Goldendoodles are a great family dog. They are silly, clever, and loyal, making them a very popular choice as a great pet.

They are low- to non-shedding, which makes them a prime pet for people with allergies. This is not to say that people with allergies won't have any reactions. Depending on the coat type and generation, Goldendoodles may still shed.

Most Goldendoodles have a moderate activity level. They have been known to be great pets, agility dogs, guide dogs, therapy dogs, and family pets. They are a very affectionate and patient breed that has been created by combining the poodle's intelligence and the golden retriever's aptitude for training.

Coat Type (pictures to come)

Goldendoodles have four main coat types.  These are lat, straight, wavy, or curly.

Flat coat

This is also called "improper coat". Goldendoodles with this coat will likely shed and not have the furnishings that most goldendoodles have. They will have more of the golden retriever look than a poodle/doodle look.

Straight coat

A Goldendoodle may not inherit the curl gene from their parents. With this coat type they will have a straight coat lacking curls, but still have the furnishings or fluffy coat. These dogs may be minimal shedding-nonshedding.

Wavy coat

When a Goldendoodle has a wavy coat, they have inherited one copy of the curl gene. Thir coat will have the long furnishings that have a wave to it. This coat usually leaves the dogs non-shedding, but there have been some with minimal shedding.

Curly coat

With a curly coat, the Goldendoodle has inherited a curly gene from both sets of parents. Dogs with this type of coat generally do not have any shedding.
